3/05/2026
Nominations are now open for the 2026 Matt Mumber, MD Advancing Cancer Patient Navigation and the Phillip H. Street Cancer Community Service Awards. The navigation award is funded and given by the Cancer Patient Navigators of Georgia each year to an individual or program in the amount of $5,000. First awarded in 2013, it was named for Dr. Mumber (pictured left), a radiation oncologist in Rome Ga., with a goal of emulating his passion for patient-centered care. Past recipients have shown leadership in advancing navigation to improve patient outcomes. This is award is monetarily sponsored by the Georgia Society of Clinical Oncology and Georgia CORE and intended to to further support navigation care within the cancer community.
The community service award is named for the late Phillip H. Street (pictured right), a longtime friend of Georgia CORE. An award of $5,000 will be given to an individual who demonstrates consistent and substantial service to Georgia’s cancer community. Phillip served as legal counsel to Georgia CORE for nearly 20 years and was instrumental in the organization's success. Donations are welcome in support of this grant.
